FAQ
-
Who do you work with?
We specialize in working with NYU students and young adults navigating life transitions, identity, anxiety, relationships, and more. We welcome clients of all backgrounds, and our team is LGBTQ+ affirming, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.
-
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We accept Wellfleet Student Health Insurance, which is the insurance plan used by most NYU students. Most clients with Wellfleet pay $0 out of pocket for therapy.
We are out-of-network with other plans but can provide superbills for potential reimbursement.
-
What if I’m not sure about starting therapy?
We offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you get a sense of who we are and whether we’d be a good fit. There’s no pressure — just a chance to ask questions and explore your options.
-
Where are you located?
Our office is located within walking distance of NYU’s main campus in Manhattan.
We also offer virtual therapy across New York State, and some of our therapists are licensed in Florida & Georgia as well. -
How do I schedule an appointment?
Click the “Schedule a Consultation” button anywhere on the site to get started. You’ll choose the therapist you'd like to meet with, answer a few quick questions, and select a consultation time that works for you.
-
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first full session will be a chance to talk more deeply about what brings you in and what you're hoping for from therapy. Your therapist will guide the conversation and help you feel comfortable — there's no need to prepare anything.
-
How often will I come to therapy?
Most clients come once a week. Some people may come more or less often depending on their goals and availability — your therapist will collaborate with you to find what works best.
-
Do you work with high-risk or crisis clients?
We are not a crisis center and may not be the right fit for clients experiencing active suicidality, psychosis, or severe symptoms that require more intensive support. If you're in crisis, please call 988 or visit your nearest emergency room.
If you’re an NYU student, NYU offers a Wellness Exchange Crisis Hotline exclusively for NYU students 212-443-9999. -
What’s the meaning behind the name “ThirdSpace”?
A third space is a concept from sociology — a space outside of home and work where connection and growth happen. In therapy, we think of the third space as the unique relationship between therapist and client: a collaborative, creative space for reflection and change.
